Hey! Hope you don't mind the really short notice. I should introduce you to Mayhem, anyway! He's from home.
[Mayhem being the little furry yokai perched on her shoulder, blinking with curiosity at the owlbear that just opened the door. Like damn, April went out and had some taste making friends for once, apparently.]
[One after another, it gives Rue hope that Mikey and the boys' father will arrive some day soon.]
Oh, look at you! What a pleasure to meet you, Sir Mayhem. [and cause no introduction would be complete without it, rue curtsies, deep, head bowed] Any friend of April's is a friend of mine.
[Mayhem looks faintly taken aback for about half a second before he just straight out preens. Look at that, April! Respect! He should get more of it!
Then he makes an attempt at mimicking the bow and nearly slides right off April's shoulder. April course corrects him at the last second, shoving him back up.] Goof. Well, I think he likes you. Oh, but he didn't arrive like the others did, if that's what you're thinking. I, uh, kinda... summoned him.
Wondrous! I had never considered the possibility of summoning living creatures with lore. I wonder what the limit must be. Could you essentially summon anyone?
I mean, I dunno. I'm not sure I'd want to drag someone away from their own life to find out, but I guess you could try if you knew their life sucked or something. I get the impression the Fox might frown on us musclin' in on her territory, though.
[She feels bad enough about Mayhem, but he literally lives with her and lets her feed and bathe him. Trying to summon a parent feels wrong.]
No, no, I wouldn't care to drag anyone in either myself, but the fact that it might be possible is quite fascinating, don't you think? It makes me wonder more about the limits of her magic. Just what request would possibly be outside of her reach?
I hadn't even considered! A spirit companion. I wonder how we could find out for certain. Sir Mayhem, my friend, do you feel quite like your full self?
[The question nets a confused looking Mayhem who was just casually scratching him and now raises an eyebrow and squints in Rue's general direction. Apparently he either has no idea or thinks it's a stupid question.]
And you're absolutely sure there'll be no pin stabbing? [Grin. She trusts you, Rue! Mayhem hops down and snugs up on the plush seating, eyeing the proceedings in a bored sort of way.
April will stand in front of the mirror and wave at her reflection, then... stick her hands out awkwardly to the sides, isn't that what you're meant to do? Last time someone measured her was for middle school.]
[But Rue is chuckling happily as they follow after her, gently placing their paws along the young woman's arms and relaxing them down at her side instead.]
I see you have experience. Let's start with a few other general measurements before we get to arms.
[At the same time, a golden parchment and quill pops into existence behind Rue's shoulder, just as the tape measurer in their pocket flies out and unfurls, moving to lay along April's back.]
Are you quite alright with having this in matching fabric of the boys?
[She jumps a little at the magical tape measure, but it's just startlement and then she watches what she can of it in the mirror with curiosity, lowering her arms sheepishly.]
We're family, right? I'd be a terrible sister if I didn't wanna match. [She's all for it.]
[It stretches down vertically along April's back, the quill takes her measurements, then the measuring tape drifts upwards to lay across her shoulders, and so on and so forth. As it happens, Rue is circling her, already picturing exactly what style of dress would look absolutely stunning on her.
Though their eyes do rise to meet with April's in the mirror at that statement, Rue's expression just radiating warmth and happiness.]
I never grow tired of hearing you call yourself their sister. You are exactly what has been missing these last few months, I'm so happy you finally joined us. It means so much to them. And to me. Our family feels one step closer to being complete.
[April smiles wistfully at that. She has very mixed feelings about being here herself, but none of them are about her family. Rather, she thinks none of them should be there at all. Including Rue. And now Hob.
And she misses her parents. But that's... something she'll just shove down because there's nothing she can do about that.]
I know Donnie missed me a whole lot. He was... [Upset. In tears, even.] So relieved to find me.
[Look, Rue's just saying, bring your parents here.]
I'm not surprised. You both are so close. I'd wager no one knows him like you do, though Leo would be quite annoyed with me if I didn't say he was the exception, wouldn't he?
[I can't Rue, they're off screen bit characters ;_;]
Hah! Well, Leo an' me know him pretty well. In different ways, probably. If he needs to get his shit sorted out, I'm his gal. Annnd if he needs his samples licked...

Naturally, Rue is there in just a few quick moments, opening the front door and beaming down at April, before ushering the young woman inside.]
Darling!

Summoned? With lore, you mean?

[Homesick.]
Bored? I guess? Wanted to see if it was possible, and other people were summonin' their pets in, so...

I'd say he's quite real, then. We need not worry about that. But either way, I'm so very happy to welcome another member to our growing family.

Anyway. I'm dutifully reporting for dress measurements!

Mayhem, you can sit right over there. April, I'll have to ask you to stand in front of this mirror, facing it.

Licked! How awful! But that does sound like my Leo, unfortunately.
